Porcelain Crowns & Bridges

Restorative dentistry allows patients to have beautiful smiles. At one time, nothing could be done when a tooth was broken or worn with decay. Eventually, the tooth would chip away.
Now, people do not have to deal with broken teeth. They can fix their teeth and restore their smile with porcelain crowns and brides.
Reasons for Porcelain Crowns
In most cases, crowns are placed after a root canal. Root canals leave teeth weak, and the crown reinforces the tooth in order to keep it from breaking. This allows the person to use the viable nerves of the tooth, along with the strength of the crown, to keep the original tooth.
In other cases, a tooth can become broken and worn down. When that occurs, it is not possible to safely build it back up with a filling. Instead of filling the tooth as a temporary solution, porcelain crowns are used to support the teeth.
Reasons for Bridges
When a tooth is missing, it can cause a wealth of problems. The teeth next to the missing space will shift inward. The shift can change the structure of the bite. In addition, a missing tooth can cause TMJ. A bridge eliminates the empty space, and thus prevents problems from occurring.
Benefits of Porcelain Crowns & Bridges
Porcelain crowns & bridges have the ability to transform a mouth. They restore the smile and make it look natural. Porcelain crowns & bridges are made to look like the natural teeth, which is why others are not likely to realize restorative dentistry techniques were used.
Your Appointment
When you choose to have a crown with Drs. Woodside & Sentz, you will be given two appointments. During the first appointment, the dentist will remove the decay in the tooth. After the decay is removed, the dentist will shape the tooth so it will be ready for the crown. Impressions will be made, and then a temporary crown will be placed on the tooth.
On your second visit, the temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown will be put in its place.
Our crowns are made of high strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material or gold.
You will also need to make two appointments for your bridge. During your first appointment, the dentist will prepare the two teeth that will hold the bridge in place. Then, an impression of the area will be made.
Your bridge will be constructed. Your bridge will be put in place during your second appointment.
Our bridges are made from gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy or all ceramic material.
Contact us today to make an appointment. We will assess your situation and decide if porcelain crowns & bridges are right for you.
